Switching Off for Rides - How does it work??

Hi There!

We are traveling with a 5 year old and a 14 month old, who will be too small for many rides. I read that you can ';switch off'; - one parent holds the baby and then is able to ride immediately with the child when the ride ends - without having to wait in line a second time. I%26#39;m wondering do you stand in a special area and wait for the child and 1st parent to finish the ride or do you get some type of ticket that lets you immediately board? Anyone able to help with this???

Thanks again!

It works very well. When you get to the front of the line of whatever ride, just tell them you would like to child swap. They will tell you where to stand. As soon as your spouse gets off of the ride, you will be able to hand your baby to him, and you will be able to ride without waiting in line again. It is quite easy. You do not need any special ticket. I used to do this all the time when my kids were small.

Hi patsgirrrl

the child swap is easy you take your%26#39;s and choose another one.

No really seriously as the other post has said you line up as normal then, one of you go on the ride and the other can go into a room.

You wait until you husband/wife/partner comes back on you go straight onto the ride. When we used it like you we had a child who could go on some of the rides, there was no problem with her riding the ride again with the one who had been waiting.

Thanks for the responses! :)

So I think I understand now but does the child ever get off the ride or do I just hop on? It sounds like a great system! We can%26#39;t wait!

Hi patsgirrrl

When we used the system the child who had been on the ride, got off with her mum or myself then just went back on with the other.

I only know this for the Universal parks dont know how the Disney work sorry.

The child gets off and walks back to the front of the line with the first parent and hops back on with you. It is great for your 5 year old as they get to ride everything twice with only standing in line once. We used this a lot when we went with a 5 yr old and a one year old. It was a great system.

The past two weeks, this is how it worked.

WDW- Tell the attendant before you get into line (no matter if it is fast pass or stand by) and the attendent will give you a baby swap fast pass. The first parent and child goes in which ever line they need to go in. Once they come off and exit, the other parent goes in the fast pass line with the pass and up to 2 other people and rides.

Universal- When you get to the end of the line (both universal express pass and regular stand by) just before getting on the ride, you tell the person that you want to do a baby swap and they show you to the baby swap room. Most of the time the room has some sort of changing table and you can change the baby%26#39;s diaper/nappy. There is also sometimes toys for the child to play with.

Seaworld- Tell the attendant as you are getting in line if there is one and they will give you a child swap card to give the final attendant or if no attendant at front of line, they will direct you where to go. Each ride seemed to be different. Atlantis was a fast pass type of card and we waited outside the ride, Polar Express had us get a card at beginning of ride and hand to attendant just before getting on ride, etc.

The BEST was Universal. They really knew how to do it well!

WOW! Thanks so much for all the detailed information - I have planned several trips and this is by far the most daunting. I am so grateful for all of the great advice on this board!
