Grocery Stores Near Disney World?

In one of the forum someone mentioned cooking in their suites if they rented a suite with a kitchen. If you stayed at Disney World resort and did not have a car are there places close by where you can buy groceries to cook your own food?

If there is a grocery store close by which one is it and how far from Disney World? Just a few questions just in case I plan on renting a suite with a kitchen. Thank you

Grocery Stores Near Disney World?

The Disney property is (last I heard) 2x the size of Manhattan, NY. Without a rental car, while not impossible, depending on where in Disney you are staying, it can be cumbersome. In the Lake Buena Vista area, there is a Winn Dixie about 1/2 a mile from the Hotel Plaza Blvd entrance to Walt Disney World (about 1 1/2 miles from Downtown Disney), which last I checked had pretty standard grocery store prices. I think there was also a Goodings right across from that Disney entrance, but I%26#39;m not sure if that%26#39;s still open or not. Those are the only options really close to the Disney property; maybe taking a Disney bus from your resort to Downtown Disney, then taking a taxi to the grocery store would be your best bet. On the Disney property, you%26#39;re pretty much limited to any small grocery places in the resorts and the Hess gas stations/convenience stores (Hess might actually have competitive prices for basic items; they have competitive prices for gasoline, anyway).

The Goodings grocery store, to my knowledge, is still open at the Crossroads, although I%26#39;ve heard other locations have closed.

The Crossroads is located right at the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd, the road which Downtown Disney is located next to.

You can get there easily, but you may need a taxi for bringing the supplies back if you don%26#39;t have your own vehicle.

I ran into the same problem. Although we are doing the dining plan, we want supplies for our kitchen - 2 bedroom Villa at Saratoga Springs.

I am renting a car for 1 day from Enterprise who will pick me up at my Resort. This is only costing $38.00. We are doing Chef Mickey at the Contemporary before buses run early in the morning. Cab fare to the Contemporary for the 7 of us would be $30.00 alone which more than justified the cost and convenience of the rental car.

There is a Super Walmart 2 1/2 miles from downtown disney.

You can take a bus to Downtown Disney and walk to Goodings which is across from Hotel Plaza Blvd on SR 535=it%26#39;s about a 15 minute walk. Then cab it back to your hotel with your groceries. You can also order online from www.goodings.com and have them deliver. We always cook some of our meals, especially breakfast

thank you for your replies. Much appreciated. Looks like renting a car. Thanks
