orlando and the keys

Hi!Planning our summer trip to Orlando %26amp; the Keys, flying to Miami then hoping for 1 night Key Largo (day we arrive), drive down to Key West for 2 nights then back up to Key Largo for another night before our drive to Orlando. Does this sound achievable? And what would you recommend to see/do on our two days driving up %26amp; down the Keys? We are a family group - Grandma (71), myself, my husband %26amp; my 2 sons age 15 years and 19 months! Thanks!

WOW - quite an age range. It%26#39;ll be hard to ffind things that both Grandma and #1 son will both like to do, and participate in.

Any driving trip is acheivable. You may be exhausted from driving and sitting, but you can do it.

Flying into MIA and driving top Key Largo is easy. The trip from Key Largo to Key West is a 100 mile trip. An easy 2 - 2 1/2 hour drive.

Search this forum for 10,000,000 different things to do.

I%26#39;d look at stops at Robbies, Aqua Ranch, Turtle Hospital, Dolphin Research Center, Blue Hole, Bat Tower, old 7 Mile Bridge,

Shopping: Latitude 25, World Wide Sportsman, Fish Lips, Lazy Gecko,

Eating: Hog Heaven, Sparky%26#39;s Landing, Keys Fisheries, Square Grouper, Mangrove Mamas, Hog Fish, Hurricane Hole,

Research these things, then come back to us and ask about the places you want to see and do.

That%26#39;s great thanks! I%26#39;ll start looking into a few of those suggestions now that the driving distances aren%26#39;t a %26#39;no no%26#39;! I realise the drive from Key Largo to Orlando will be a long one, but we have all day just to drive it. As long as we have time to see some sights on our two days driving to and from Key West.

We do the drive as often as we can (Orlando to Key West), but we can%26#39;t wait to get to Key West. We keep the stopping to a minimum. ;)

Hi DisneySuzy,

Key Largo to Orlando is definitely an all day trip (we did Titusville to Islamorada at Christmas). Just plan to stop somewhere nice along the way for lunch that will help to break things up a bit.

Cheers!

The longest ride you%26#39;ll have is from Key Largo to Orlando. It all depends on how long you want to make the trip and how much or little you want to see. In a couple of weeks a bunch of us will be in Key West via Daytona for bike week. We%26#39;ll be in Key West for a couple of days then Monday morning we%26#39;ll leave Key West for Orlando. We catch Rt. 27 out of Homested which cuts through the middle of the state. Not much to see but we think it%26#39;s the quickest route with just under 400 miles.

That%26#39;s what we will be looking for - the quickest route - we%26#39;ll just want to get to our villa, not planning on seeing or doing anything on the way, that drive is purely to get us from A to B. Thanks!
