Due to time and financial restraints we feel we will be unable to do it all on our first visit to Orlando in May. Can%26#39;t decide which parks to visit, some help would be much appreciated. We have girl and boy twins aged 7. My daughter likes princesses but is unlikely to believe they%26#39;re real at her age, she also loves fast rides and is quite keen on dolphins. My son is not so keen on rides, not really into to any disney characters but loves spiderman etc. I%26#39;m swaying towards Universal, especially as we are there over busy dates and fast pass option would be good but I would really appreciate some feedback - are we going to miss a lot by not %26#39;doing%26#39; disney?
Disney V's Universal / Seaworld / AquaticaWell, I%26#39;m a Disney fan, so I%26#39;m of the opinion you should try to do at least Magic Kingdom and possibly Hollywood Studios parks at Disney if you can.
The two Universal parks are mostly ';thrill'; rides which may leave your son out of a lot if he%26#39;s not much of a rider, but Universal Islands of Adventure does have Spiderman and that%26#39;s a very cool ride..one of the best in all of Universal.
SeaWorld has just a few rides, but is mostly shows and exhibits/encounters.
Aquatica is the SeaWorld waterpark.
BTW, the Express Passes at Universal do cost you extra money per person. The price depends on the date of your visit and range from $25.99 to $50.99 per Express Pass.
Fast Passes at Disney parks are free and specific to certain rides/attractions.
Disney V's Universal / Seaworld / AquaticaThanks for your reply, the reason I am grouping universal/seaworld %26amp; aquatica together is because the pass we would buy would cover them all. Or we can buy the Disney premium ticket - we can%26#39;t really afford to do both (and I don%26#39;t think we would have time either). I get the idea that you think disney is better?
Disney has a healthy mix of rides and other attractions. Does your son like animals? Animal Kingdom is like an oversized theme park zoo. Theres rides, characters and shoes as well as a safari.
Hollywood Studios is mostly shows with a few tame (but fun!) rides and a couple of thrill rides...
but have a look at each park%26#39;s website to see whats at each for your kids before you make a decision.
I love Disney but think for the money Universal has a lot to offer. You can get a 2 day 2 park ticket which is good for 7 consecutive days for 100.00. It is 75.00 for a 1-day park ticket at Disney. However, I do think your kids are great ages for Disney and I think the Magic Kingdom would be great for your kids. Does your son like race cars? They have a fun race car ride that your son may enjoy. I know how hard the decision can be. We are leaving in 2 days and we are only doing Universal this time. My son is 17 now so not interested in the Disney thing anymore.
One thing also to bear in mind are the height restrictions on some rides. Your daughter may like to go on all the rides at Universal but would she be tall enough?
I also think that your kids are a great age for Disney. They may not believe that the characters are real but it is really hard not to get caught up in the magic.
You could always get seperate tickets for Seaworld. I am not sure of the price but I don%26#39;t think they are too expensive. Seaworld is a lovely park and a completely different pace to the other parks.
I wish I was able to take my children when they were younger. They were 13 and 10 when we went last year and although they enjoyed Disney it was just a bit too cute for them. I loved it though. Whatever you decide you will have a lovely time.
:o)
We were on Orlando in October 08 and opted for the Flex ticket plus which included Aquatica and Busch Gardens.
Prior to the holiday we thought about Disney, just doing 2 parks, however, due to costs we did not do this, also not sure if we would have the time to enjoy everything that both parks could offer.
But if we had, it we would have opted for 2 days at Disney%26#39;s Magic Kingdom and, Hollywood Studios would have been our choice and I think your children would as well as yourselves have lot of fun, something for everyone.
If your girl is into thrill rides, then Islands of Adventure would my first stop then Universal, Seaworld and Busch Gardens.
Click on my profile I have few photos and videos of Universal,IOA, Seaworld,Aquatica and Busch Gardens, see what you think.
You really can%26#39;t go wrong with the Flex ticket plus you will have fun.
You can alway come back and do Disney another time its not going away.
All the best.
Thanks so much for all your replies. The main thing my son likes is actually football (soccer). I dont think they have much of that at any parks! It seems there are arguments in favour of both options. I think we may just have to try to do it all.
If I get the Disney Premium pass, Universal 2 day and 1 day entry for Seaworld (I think you get second day free?) cost does%26#39;t seem too bad. We only have 10 days though - do you think this is enough time to fit all this in???
