My DH, 3 and 1/2 year old and I will be staying at the Contemporary March 10, 11 and 12. My DH will be at a conference, so I%26#39;m planning to take my DD to Magic Kingdom on the 12th (we arrive on the 10th). Assuming our room will not have views of the fireworks. I%26#39;ve read posts about how crazy the crowds can be when leaving the park after the fireworks are over. Is it worth it? The park closes at 8pm that night, and thought it would be fun to go back in after dinner to walk around, but not sure about the crowds with the fireworks.
Fireworks at Magic Kingdom- Appropriate for 3 year old?
Many do stay late for the fireworks. My concern wouldn%26#39;t be with crowds so much as with the noise. 2 of my 3 hated loud noises like FW when they were that age. Only you know what yours likes/dislikes. My eldest was frightened of Characters till he was over 4 as well.
I would imagine, given that you can see Wishes from the Cali Grill terrace, that you could see them well from the grounds of your hotel. So I would try that, or I would pop over to the Poly on the monorail and watch them from the gardens as you get the water parade as well.

if you stay in the contemporary, then simply go to the california grill ...
it has an outside deck which overviews the castle and the firework.
I guess even the music will be there!
sorry, amanx was quicker :-)
The fireworks at Magic Kingdom are pretty nice. However you are right that is a pain getting out of there afterwords. The thing about magic kingdom is there are two ways out, monorail and boat, each is limited in capacity. So if the park is busy, it can definatley take your a long time to get out of there (over an hour easily).
Another option for fireworks would be Epcot. They put on a pretty spectacular fireworks display. And the thing is you can walk out of that park to the parking lot. Where as with disney your stuck taking the boat or the monorail. So if you have a car it makes it not too bad to get out.
You know, you can always take the resort monorail over to the Polynesian and watch the fireworks from the beach at that resort, if you don%26#39;t want to battle the crowds at M.K.
Don%26#39;t know if the parking lot area out in front of the Contemporary would be a good place or not, but that%26#39;s another option too.
Thanks for all the help. I didn%26#39;t realize Cali Grill had an outside terrace. Hopefully we can just show up there and watch without having a reservation. All of this will depend on her energy level anyways, but all of these options are great. Thanks!
I agree with Kit Kub fan the poly is the best bet for a 3yr. old
Sorry Kit Cubs Fan.
Unless your 3 yr old will be very scared by loud noises, while the fireworks are amazing from anywhere, imo there is no comparison to being inside the MK for the fireworks. And if you are going for the day anyway, I would stay for them. The crowds aren%26#39;t that big of a deal, they are there all the time anyway. You have different choices of transporation back to the contemporary, and if the lines are so long you don%26#39;t want to wait, you can always walk. We walked last time we were there, and it is an easy 5 - 10 min walk. You do have to have a reservation at the Cal Grill to get in to watch fireworks. We tried to get in just to nose around and watch fireworks, but no luck, they kicked us stright out.
You have to have dinner reservations to go up to the California Grill but you can see the fireworks from in front of the Contemporary-or take the monorail to the GF or Poly and watch them from the beach if you are concerned about crowds because they are pretty massive. The noise is also muted if you watch them from one of the monorail hotels-but they are worth it,a must see at the MK
