Beaches in the Keys?

Are there any places to stay in the middle keys that have decent beaches? I am traveling with 2 kids (8 %26amp; 5), so wanted to stay somewhere where we could hang out on the beach as well as have all the other things to do that the Keys offer. Thanks!

Tranquility Bay has a beach, as does Hawks Cay.

Sombrero Beach is in Marathon and a great beach by Keys standards.

Key Colony Beach has places to stay that are right on the beach, as does Coco Plum Beach. Both beaches are in the middle keys.

In Key Colony Beach check out the Continental Inn or the Ocean Beach Club - both right on the beach plus with pools.

You may want to check out Rainbow Bend, they offer a small boat with your stay or you can rent it? It is a little older than the other hotels mentioned but does have character, beach and some few things to do. It really depends whether you like older or new places and which opportunities you would like to have included or offered with your stay. also some are gulf side and some are ocean side. The Keys are great fun

Thanks for the info! I%26#39;m looking at Key Colony Beach and we%26#39;ll probably get a condo for a week. Any advice on condos?

I stayed at Continental Inn last summer. It does have a beach but there is a large seaweed bed a little ways out. So you are unable to go any farther than about waist deep without swimming or standing in the middle of knee deep seaweed. That looked to be the case for all of Key Colony Beach. That was a little disappointing and steered us away from the beach and on to so many fun things in the Keys. So it was a trade off.

I thnk the seaweed is probably a seasonal issue. My wife and I stayed at Continental Inn last May and had no issue with seaweed. We enjoyed a queen sized bed and full kitchen there in our studio and had a wonderful time simply relaxing beach side. Be aware that the beach itself is not wide... the water comes up close the their seawall. You are able to walk the beach for a good distance though and it widens. Continental Inn scheduled a wonderful dolphin show for us there - we simply sat in the lounge chairs in awe as the school swam by.
