We are pricing up flights to go to Orlando last 2 weeks of august with our children aged 11 and 5. We have played around with dates etc. and if you go for 12 night the flights work out about 拢500 cheaper in total. We have also found a lovely villa which is available for these dates. My question is it is worth paying an extra 拢500 and going for another couple of nights, or do you think 12 nights will be enough with children of that age? (We have been on abroad many times in the past but only ever done one week with the kids!)
Is 12 nights enough for first trip?
When I was that age, 12 nights or 14, I would have been thrilled to go to Disney either way. And my parents wouldn%26#39;t let me know there was an option to begin with.

12 nights will be enough. Don%26#39;t forget you will be flying back overnight so that will add another day onto your holiday!
You will probably be shattered after that time. Save the 拢500 for the next visit!
We took our 3 boys from the age of about 3 (youngest) right through till now (28 youngest now) and probably going again this September - they cannot get enough of Florida. We now also take their girl friends now.
WOW!! I think that is more than enough. As mentioned above you will need time to rest after your long flights. You will most certainly be able to see and do a lot. Have you thought about a trip over the the Fla. beaches? Or, will you do Disney the entire time?
12 nights is a hugh amount of time will you be just staying in orlando. 12 nights is PLENTY if money is an issue then investigate a little further into your trip. remember park tickets are extramly pricey and shows at night time etc can be 70-90dollars a person. the price of food etc .. in the parks is extorionate. i think you will have had enough of the parks after about 7 days. also my brother his wife and there three kids were there for two weeks and had had enough of parks for the rest of there lives in that time. consider a couple of days at the beach . clearwater and fort myers are both great family spots. i was in both places at christmass time.
I also agree that there is a risk of burnout if you spend more than the 12 days. And build in some downtime!!! (Swimming, napping, just lying around with a nice book. )
12 nights will be fine, my advise would be dont try to do everything on this visit, stick to 4 disney parks, and sea world, and then relax and enjoy it. leave Universal until kids are older.
I think there is something for everyone in universal ! particularly the 11 year old. both kids would go mad for all the simpsons stuff thats there!
Still with twelve days there is plenty of time to not miss anything!
Hi jamiejay, and welcome to the forum.
12 days is good for your FIRST trip, but you will get hooked on florida just as we all are on here. We took our kids every year for years and we all had a fabulous time. They are now grown up but occasionally still like to come with us with their other half, and yes, hubby and I still go back every year. Not so much to the theme parks now (although we did do Epcot last year), but florida has so much more to offer once you%26#39;ve had your fill of the parks and you feel confident to spread your wings...maybe the second or third trip!!!!
Its a good idea for another visit to do disney for a week, then have a week at the gulf coast beaches, relaxing in the warm waters and white sands.
Hope the villa you%26#39;ve chosen is not too far away from disney as the place is vast and you have lots of ground to cover each day so just take that into account.
Don%26#39;t forget it will be hot and humid in august with short thunderstorms nearly every afternoon. However, most Brits don%26#39;t seem to mind that as its convenient with our big school holiday (and it does cool you off a bit) lol.
Any questions you have, however large or small, post them on here and someone will always have an answer for you.
Enjoy the forum and good luck with your planning.
I agree 12 nights will be good save the 拢500 -you can spend it there or put it to your next trip,
We did 14 nights when we first went but now our min stay is around 3 weeks.
My children are 11 and 5 and they love it -
Chris
12 Nights is great, for a first trip. Plenty of time to see everything and have time to relax, swim, shop, dine, etc. Happy planning!
