Hotels in Tampa in March

My son (5 years old) and I are going to Tampa mid-March for a week. We are doing all the usual things (Busch Gardens, Zoo, Aquarium, beach for a day in Clearwater, etc) as well as going to see a couple of Yankees training camp games. I need some advice on a hotel to stay at; in a safe area, reasonably priced (less than $150/night) - it doesn%26#39;t need to be anything fancy but nice, preferably one with a breakfast included, close to what we will be doing (although we will be renting a car I don%26#39;t want to spend all my time driving). Any advice would be greatly appreciated, it is hard to tell what is good from the internet. Thanks!

None of the things you listed are particularly close to each other. I would suggest maybe the Rocky Point area if you don%26#39;t care about being on the Gulf beaches. It is in Tampa, but not too far from Clearwater. It%26#39;s pretty central to all the things you list. Check this site to see what is in your price range for your dates and then you can read the reviews of those hotels. Of course, you can post here if you have more questions once you%26#39;ve narrowed it down!

I agree with Rocky Point. It is about midway between Clearwater Beach, and Busch Gardens. It is an island in the bay, just to the West of Tampa Intl Airport along Hwy 60. There is also a small beach on it (Ben T. Davis Beach). While it is not like the beaches on the gulf, I%26#39;m sure a 5yo would love to visit it a few times to play, as it will be just minutes from your hotel. There is a Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and a Doubletree Hotel and the Bay harbor Hotel. There is a brand new Westin that just opened, but it may not be in that $150 budget. These hotels also have an airport shuttle van (not 100% sure about Doubletree, but I have seen the others) which may come in handy if you want to return the rental early.

A few restaurants on the island also, Landrys Seafood House. More casual spots are a Bahama Breeze, Crabby Bills, and Whiskey Joe%26#39;s.
