My husband and I are looking to go to Disney World to celebrate our four year wedding anniversary in September this year. We went to Disney for our honeymoon and stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter. We also went last year and stayed at Caribbean Beach. This year will most likely be the last time we go before we have kids, so we really wanted to stay at a Magic Kingdom resort. Is it worth the money to stay at the Grand Floridian, or is the Polynesian or Contemporary a better option? Thanks for any assistance!!
Resort RecommendationWe love the Grand Floridian! It has the most amenities of any Disney resort and far fewer children, than Poly or Contemp. The grounds are beautiful, with many romantic spots. You can see the fireworks each evening, from the marina or boat dock. A stroll along the beach is quiet and lovely, overlooking the wedding pavillion.
The Grand has 24 hour room service AND counter service, nightly turn-down, live music in the lobby every evening, 5 restaurants, 2 beautiful pools, great shopping, queen or king beds, and excellent service. In our view, it is worth the added expense.
Whatever you choose, have a wonderful trip!
Resort RecommendationThank you for the advice! That%26#39;s what we were thinking, but I just wanted to be sure. I%26#39;ve always been intrigued by the Polynesian too, but wanted to see what others thought. We%26#39;ve been to the Grand Floridian for dinner, and it%26#39;s beautiful. We%26#39;d almost feel bad walking around in shorts and t-shirts!
The G.F. will cost you more than the Poly (I priced a room there recently for a friend at over $500 per night there during spring break time).
I think the Poly has been renovated more recently as well.
You might also want to check into the Wilderness Lodge.
I would recommend the GF or the Polynesian. The GF is more pricey but very elegant and perfect for an anniversary celebration. I always stay at the Poly, I love the tropical feel is has, the rooms are newly renovated and my kids like the pool. They do have a 2nd pool on sit which is much quieter. Happy planning!!!
All rooms were updated, at the Grand Floridian, in 2007. Same time frame, as Poly.
I like the Grand Floridian, but despite the lack of kids, I don%26#39;t feel it is intimate or romantic (apart from strolling the gardens watching the fireworks).
I would consider Wilderness Lodge. Save the Monorail resorts for when you come back with the kiddies- very convenient.
If I were you I would go with the Grand Floridian if it will most likely be your last time without kids. When you take your kids along you can stay at the other resorts!!
