Hello hcooper57,
You%26#39;ll have a great time in Cape Coral! Depending on where you plan to rent you could be a long distance getting out to larger bodies of water...I would recommend checking address on Mapquest for it%26#39;s location. Do you plan on taking a boat out to the Gulf? We did not rent a boat while we were there but they do provide maps for the canal system...it%26#39;s quite a system.
Purchasing groceries at Walmart will be your cheapest bet...lots of restaurants and things to see and do. Spend a day over on Sanibel Island and make sure to take in a day at Lover%26#39;s Key State Park. If you have time rent a car and head down to the Keys.
Happy Travels

Something to consider. We have tried to rent a boat in the past, at a place on the entrance to Fort Myers Beach. I cannot remember if you need a licence but you do need to have experience of using a boat, as we were refused due to our lack of experience.
There are obviously courses/guides you can use to gain the experience.
Hi there Heather
We are going to Cape Coral in April and we have rented a house and boat seperately. We booked the boat through Cape Coral boat rentals, they have a website and Glen was v helpful. We normally go to Sanibel but thought Cape Coral would be a nice change. From what I can gather you really need a boat there. April is a really busy time so we have found it tricky getting a house and boat but I spoke to Ann at Ospreyvillas.com who was v good, they rent boats and houses together. There was no avialability for what we neeeded but I think in June you will have plenty to choose from.
