Hi! My 15 year old daughter, husband and I are looking to visit PCB area in mid-July and need some advice on a great condo with a great pool and on the beach for us and our 17-pound sweet mix-breed house dog. We are really looking forward to coming and have NEVER been to PCB! Only been to Destin but we are about to give up on the beach there. Thanks for anyones help!
Looking for Dog friendly condo on the beach in PCB area
Hi, I just responded to your other post on here about a dog friendly beach, but I saw this one and wondered why you want to ';give up on the beach'; in Destin. I haven%26#39;t been there in a couple years so has something happened to the beaches in that area? Thanks!
Looking for Dog friendly condo on the beach in PCB area
I messed up first post - thought it was gone! Oh well - anyway, we used to stay at the Jetty East and the last time we were there the beach was really washed out from the resort. They had to build a sea wall and we couldn%26#39;t walk down the beach from one side of condo to the other without going up onto the sea wall. The other beach areas were really washed away too - I think the 2 hurricanes and a bad storm really did a number on the Jetty... It was a great place to stay but they didn%26#39;t allow dogs. She is our newest family member and we take her on vacations now. I%26#39;m hoping to find a place on PCB if possible. There were very few in Destin that were dog friendly - they were across hwy 98 from the beach too. Thanks for the interest.
Hi. I think Treasure Island on Thomas Drive offers pet friendly condos. I%26#39;ve never stayed there, but I%26#39;ve heard really good things about it.
Nlot trying to be the voice of gloom and doom but I don%26#39;t think any of the resorts allow dogs. In the last 20 + yrs I%26#39;ve been going, I%26#39;ve not known a place other than someone%26#39;s home, allow you to have dogs. Would be interesting to know tho. Maybe someone else knows better than I do about that.
Good Luck,
Karen
Check VRBO.com they hava a symbol indicating pet friendly.
Stayed at the Dunes of Panama in Oct. and recall seeing dogs there. I%26#39;m sure it depends on the owners whether dogs are allow or not. Check VRBO.
Good Luck and have fun
Agree with jjvan - check VRBO and check for the pet friendly logo. Homeaway actually has some search criteria that can be used. Lots of condo associations have put in rules not permitting pets, but there are still some left that have figured out that people with pets can be good renters too. If anything, pet owners tend to take even better care of condos because they want to be able to return again and again. There are no bad dogs, just bad owners. Hope you don%26#39;t give up yet and are able to find a place. There is a relatively new pet friendly beach by the old/new Dan Russell Pier, and dog walk areas at Pier Park and Frank Brown Park.
Thank you so much for the info. We think we may have found one through VRBO - It%26#39;s at a condo called Gulf Crest and it looks very nice. Do you know of this place? I believe it is off of Thomas Drive but not sure. It is directly on the beach and the owner is happy to have our 17 pound mixed up mutt come too! I can%26#39;t wait!! We are normally camping in the summer but in the mountains not at the beach - I LOVE the beach and can%26#39;t wait to get there if it all works out - Thanks you all for your help - Trip Advisor seems to be a great site for planning purposes. First time I%26#39;ve used it!
TNcamper - if you haven%26#39;t given up on Destin yet, you might want to try Beach Retreat - it%26#39;s a 4 story, pet friendly condo building. There are also a number of pet friendly properties in the Beaches of South Walton - an area between PCB and Destin. There are a variety of small beach towns each with a unique charm, from old, authentic towns like Seagrove and Grayton Beach to planned developments like Seaside, Rosemary Beach and Watercolor.
You may want to consider St. Andrews Park. It is on the east end off of Thomas Dr. and from what I could see looked like a pretty decent camp grounds. There are tons of hook ups and the beach at St Andrews is very nice with the jetty keeping the water calm.
