Hi,
Where are some moderate price range accomadations for a large family. I have 4 boys 9 -17 and 6 year old girl. We are trying to decide if it would be best to rent a car and rent a villa or rooms outside park or stay in park and use disney transportation.
Thanks for all suggestions!!!

How soon are you hoping to go ? There are a few good deals right now for Disney Resorts, might be easier to stay on-site and more fun too :)

If only doing disney it might work out cheaper to stay onsite in two rooms, especially if you get a deal. We are a family of 8 and right now the van rentals are high priced. The other perk about staying onsite is your group wants to split it can easily be done. Some can go back to the resort while the rest stay, etc.
We stay in a moderate, but a value is another good option. I would pick Pop Century if choosing a value.
We have stayed offsite before a few times in a Marriott Residence Inn (sleeps 8 in a 2 bedroom with free continental breakfast)with a rental car and prefer staying onsite.
This past October we stayed in a 4 BDRM/4 Bath house in Windsor Hills. We normally stay at one of the Disney Resorts but decided to try off property and were so glad we did. It is so nice to be able to go ';home'; at night after long days in the park. You are all in one place and not split up between two hotel rooms, you can eat some of your meals at the house instead of in the parks, you can pack light and do laundry as needed. The house was spacious and has a pool and is only minutes to the parks. We will definitely stay here again. We rented the Palm House, here is the link: http://emeraldpalmsvilla.com
We%26#39;ve stayed here a couple of times. It%26#39;s real close to the entrance to Disney property.

We like the Staybridge suites LBV-they sleep 8 but it might be tight. windsor Hills is supposed to be very nice. We also like the Marriott Grande Vista which has terrific pools. We only stay on Disney property if we are traveling with small children/elderly friends because we like to have some space and a kitchen and don%26#39;t care to spend $700 a night for it-Disney villas are pricey!
Another off-site option that I like is Cypress Pointe in Lake Buena Vista. Large condos with kitchens (a big help with 5 kids if you%26#39;re trying to save on the food budget), nice pool, very close to Disney. Better with a car though. I think it%26#39;s very well priced too considering all you get.

I do not know how I managed t miss this Summer, sorry!
I would rent a car probably, and then the accomodation world is you oyster. As are all parks etc as with a fam of 7 the bus tickets and shuttles and the odd taxi would soon add up.
I have three boys 14-17 and we like (and we started staying there when they were younger) Cypress Pointe resort in LBV. Very close to DTD, and the parks. Quick nip up to Universal. And walking distance to 10+restaurants at night when you are tired. And a grocery and two takeawys next door. What is not to like?
But I also highly rec the villa with pool route if you have never done it. Great fun for all, and you can relax and spend evenings in. Or have a dip mid day before returning to the parks in the evenings if it is too hot in the day. Try the ones nearest the Disney parks like Windsor Plams, Windsor Hills, Emerald Island. There are others even cheaper (these are all gated with facilities but still affordable).
Try rental sites like VRBO, Homeaway, Villas2000, Orlandorentals, etc there are more.
HI Summer,
I went in 2007 and there were 6 of us, and we stayed in LBV resort village and spa, we had a 3 bed appartment and it was amazing, you have the luxury of an apparment but the feel of a hotel, you are only 5 minutes from disney and right next door to a shopping outlet.
The master suite is huge, then there is another double bedroom and a bedroom with two single beds, there is also a bed settee in the living room.
I have also stayed in Windsor Hills, and this was great. Personally I will be booking to go back to LBV resort and spa for next year there will be around 10-12 of us and we will get two 3 bed appartments.
Have a wonderful holiday !
