Does anyone know when the flights for next April go on sale? We have tried with loads of sites but no-one seems to go that far yet, but you can book a package holiday that far in advance and surely they have flights! Also who is the best to fly with price and value wise? I would love to fly with Virgin but is it worth the extra cost?
Also if anyone has any good tips on which car hire firm to use that would be great thanks!
When do flights go on sale for next April?
Most airlines only post rates 300 days out. So I would expect that airfare for April 2010 will not go on sale until June or so. But if I were you I would not book that early anyway. To far in advance and you are paying the ';rack'; rate. You want to want to wait until 6 months out.
When do flights go on sale for next April?
Really? Whats a rack rate mean? I thought it would be better to book in advance as usually the fuller the plane gets the dearer the seats get, but thanks ill bare that in mind!
Hi,
With companies like Thomas Cook it is usually just
under 12 months. The holidays go on sale first and the flights about four weeks later. We booked our flight almost a year in advance (for May 09) and I have just checked and it is over 拢100 less than we paid!
The trouble is that I like to fly direct from my local airport, so I book early and pay the price at that time so that I can guarantee I get what I want. One of these days I might be brave enough to wait and see if prices come down!

If you want to fly with Virgin Atlantic you can book now via Virgin Holidays on either a fly-drive or package. April is not a month when VA are likely to reduce their fares very much, cos of Easter so there%26#39;s not alot of point waiting around to book direct with them unless you have air-miles to redeem.
Virgin Holidays prices have been better for the 2009 season anyway. VA prices during the school holidays were simply obscene IMO.
You could probably go into any high street travel agent and ask for a 10% on a Virgin Hols deal for next year.
Are they worth the extra. Well a direct non-stop flight is good for starters. Then flight times do not get altered and they are not going to go broke!
Don%26#39;t wait around long though, because Virgin Holidays sell out quickly (they may already have sold their april 2010 allocation)
Depending on the airline, scheduled air fares are available between 329 and 331 days in advance.
The cheapest fares however are not always available on the first few days. The air fares do sometimes go down a week or two later.
I think the most appropriate saying is ';Fools rush in where angels fear to tread';
Beware of flying with the charter and package holiday companies because there is nearly always a clause that says they can charge fuel surcharges, supplements, etc, and this does include Virgin so it is always worth checking the small print.
As far as the cheapest airline is concerned it is a case of checking all of the websites as it also depends on the number of empty seats on any particular flight.
As an example, have a look at the usairways.com site
there can be up to eight different fares for the same journey on the same day - it depends which flight you wish to travel on
