My husband and I will be visiting Key West for 5 days next week. I%26#39;m currently 5 months pregnant and tend to have lots of cravings, especially for ice cream! Where should I go for the best ice cream? I%26#39;m also looking forward to eating lots of key lime pie, any suggestions where I should go for some great pie? Thanks for your help!
Key Lime pie and ice creamHands down the best ice cream is at Flamingo Crossing on Duval Street. It is all homemade ice cream that is made right in the back of the store several times a week. Try the chocolate, coconut, Mango, passion fruit, english custard or the Key Lime. Heck, try any of them. They are all good!
Key Lime pie and ice creamFlamingo Crossing on the corner of Duval and Virgina at the southern end of Duval has excellent ice cream!!! Home made and many many flavours to choose from.
I really liked the key lime pie at Pepe%26#39;s. I loved it so much I printed the recipe off their website and make it at home.
Happy Hunting : )
Arnie is right on. Flamingo Crossing is THE place for fresh ice cream. It%26#39;s locally owned and operated.
I Like Blonde Giraffe for key lime pie, but there are plenty of places who make a good one.
If you are near Capt. Tony%26#39;s, just to the right of the bar, is a little store called Key Lime-n-More. They have all things Key Lime including Flamingo Crossing ice cream, excellent key lime pie, and key lime pie on a stick covered in chocolate. It%26#39;s in a convenient location should you get a craving and the owners are really nice.
Limey
I agree .. Flamingo Road is great for ice cream.
I think best Key Lime Pie is at Blue Heaven (and now also available at Salute, the restaurant on Higgs Beach that the owners of Blue Heaven operate.)
Key Lime pie is also great at the Roof Top Cafe.
If your tastes run to over the top sweet, then go out of your way for the key lime pie at Southernmost Cafe on the Beach. It is a work of art, with tons of whipped cream, chocolate sauce and lime syrup. You will want to take a picture of it, and then devour it.
Thanks everyone. I%26#39;m going to write all these places down and refer to them at every craving. I%26#39;ll let youknow which I like the best.
I love the frozen pie from Key Lime n More. The owner told mne he uses Belgian dark chocolate and I was sold. It%26#39;s good.
Now last week, at our local K of C fish fry, there was homemade Key Lime Pie for dessert. I got the last piece...OMG!!!!!! The lady who made it says she may part with the recipe someday---I%26#39;ll see if I can bribe her ;-)
Alas, I can eat frozen pie but not ice cream (my stomach clobbers me later). Have some for me!
