Which one is a good, safe location? We are planning a low key weekend getaway. We would like to be close to the beach but it%26#39;s not a requirement. We are using a company discount and the only hotels available are the Holiday Inn Doral, and the Holiday Inn Sunrise, close to Ft Lauderdale. Which location is best?

Holiday Inn Doral vs Holiday Inn Sunrise
I can%26#39;t tell you anything about Doral as that is a part of Miami I don%26#39;t know ( but pretty certain it%26#39;s not at all near the beach). The one in Sunrise is not near the beach either - about 15 miles or more west of it- in an area mainly of senior citizen condos. It used to be a Hilton and really was run down at one point but was closed for quite a long time and reopened as a Hiliday Inn fairly recently. I know some refurbising took place , not sure it it was complete. There really isn%26#39;t much of anything to do around there that I can think of- I think it is frequently used by tour bus grups and as group housing for pre/post cruise by the cruiseline packages with groups bussed in or out. It would not be my first choice for a getaway, but I%26#39;m suspecting Doral might be about the same situation- there is a large golf course in Doral - perhaps that is a factor in their location.
I%26#39;ve stayed at sunrise and it%26#39;s a nice hotel. The wait staff in the restaurant is very slow, the food is average. The pool area is very nice and they serve you from the bar. Not realy that far from the beach but not close.
Have a great time SYOTR
P.S. there is a holiday Inn in FT.Lauderdale across the street from the beach, not a bad hotel but more expensive.
I don%26#39;t know of any Holiday Inn across from the beach- the one at Sunrise Blvd. closed a couple of years ago and is sitting empty with no plans announced as financing for rebranding has fallen through aparently. It may be a while since the previous poster has been in that area.
