Closest Airport?

It sounds like Marco Island might be the perfect spot for us in June. We are coming from NY. What airport is best to use? Ft Myers? How long a drive is it from airport to Marco?

Thanks!

Closest Airport?

Ft Myers is definetly the best airport to fly into. It%26#39;s only about 45 minutes to Marco from the Ft Myers airport. Pretty quick and painless drive.

Me and my family are flying into Ft Myers in April for the first time. (usually we fly into Miami when going to Marco).

With the weather we have been having in Halifax, our trip to ';paradise'; can%26#39;t come soon enough. lol.

Enjoy your trip.

Closest Airport?

Just to follow up on the same request made by njnut

on page two of the forum at this time:

WISKIM WRITES: However, if you are checking on air fare, Fort Myers is not always the cheapest place to fly into. If fares are high, I always also check fares to Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Tampa, St. Pete and also West Palm.

I write:

Also, there is another option...

there is punta gorda airport...

depending on where you are flying from..

and when you are willing to travel.

you can flights into punta gorda on Direct Air or Allegiant Airlines.

This is also an easy drive to Marco. There are car rentals there as well.

Again, these airlines are limited in flights and where they are available from, but I have had friends use direct air from Worcester Mass and loved it!

BEST OF LUCK

Fort Myers is the closest large airport and very easy. Traffic can be pretty heavy at times but speed limit on I-75 is 70 so it moves. Fort Myers Airport (RSW) is brand new and beautiful. Most rental cars are available right at the airport. Couldn%26#39;t be easier. It can be confusing when exiting so make sure you get on I-75 South towards Naples.

I agree with Kevdeb on alternate airports and would say that I think Fort Lauderdale is the next easiest. I%26#39;m not a fan of Miami or the drive out of the airport there. But Ft. Lauderdale wasn%26#39;t bad at all.

Once you see the Jolley Bridge and take that drive over to paradise, you%26#39;ll be so happy you did.

Look at RSW first. For first timers, I%26#39;d say go that way even if it is a little more airfare. It%26#39;s so easy to get to Marco from there. Rental cars are on site and 2 turns and an on ramp is a straight shot to Marco. Go have a great time!
