We are looking for a beach to stay at for 3 nights either before or after spending 3 nights at the Disney parks. It will be myself, husband and our 18 month old son. From looking at information so far this place seems perfect since it is close to Orlando still. I%26#39;m looking for a perspective though from someone who has been there though on what it is really like. We are looking for a nice safe beach town, good beaches, nice hotels with a good selection of beach front dining.
Does this sound like Cocoa Beach? Which hotel would you recommend?
Is this the place we are looking for?
What time of the year are you thinking of?
Is this the place we are looking for?
Oh sorry that would help! We will be in the area 4/23-4/29.
Your research is right on target. Cocoa Beach is the closest beach to Orlando, it is very safe, has good beaches, and lots of hotel choices.
There is a good selection of dining, but most of the restaurants are not beachfront. There are a few on the beach, a few on the river, and a few in Port Canaveral with views of the water, but most are inland.
Cocoa Beach is a nice and safe area. Only about an hour drive from Disney. There is a Best Western that is nice, just a 5 minute walk from www.cocoabeachpier.com for restaurants over the water/beach. Other than at the pier, I have not noticed much for beach front restaurants right in that area. www.visitgrills.com is at the port and on the water, not directly overlooking the beach/ocean, but really good for boat watching.
While it%26#39;s a great beach, the water will be a little chilly at that time of the year. The same is true if you go to the opposite side of FL on the gulf. The up side is CB is only about an hour%26#39;s drive from Orlando, while the gulf beaches will be at least twice that.
There%26#39;s a lot of restaurants on the water in CB, but they%26#39;re mostly on the Indian River %26amp; not the beach. The beach has a lot of hotels %26amp; condo buildings on it, %26amp; all the hotels have some sort of restaurant overlooking the beach. The CB pier has several restaurants on it, but it wouldn%26#39;t be my first choice for dining. In addition, there%26#39;s a wide range of restaurants not on the water to choose from, with all sorts of food types.
Hope this helps!
