Yea! We just got a thank you note from the Best Western Aku Tiki with one of their specials for 2009. We hope to be able to take advantage of it again this summer. Anyone else get the card and discout offer this week?

Actually I get several every year from various places. I think mine generate from a generic DB COC mailing list. For what we like I still am able to work things out best by talking directly to the motel manager. I have my ways,

and can drive a hard bargin in subtle ways. LOL

We usually call directly also, but since these are from where we usually stay, I think that is why they have our address. Discounts are wonderful things, they let you stay where you want instead of only where you can afford LOL.

Just wondered if anyone else was getting the discounts from the Aku Tiki or any other hotels? Getting them brings back the great memories of our time in the Daytona Beach area.

Oh, about the Tiki head, it always has a calming effect on us, maybe it is the beach wind creating a bali high lilt blowing across the Tiki head%26#39;s surface? Bali high ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I posted some pictures of the ';head'; Blu mentioned on the Aku Tiki hotel review page on TA. I don%26#39;t have any good ones of the rooms. There is one there now that shows the shuffleboard and poolside bar area. Happy New Year!

When I first moved down here I found the Polynesian influence confusing (Aku Tiki, Hawaiian Inn, Hawaiian Falls mini golf, Hawaiian Tropic headquarters...)

And then there%26#39;s the Viking Sun Lodge. HAHA!

I think it is from the ocean, the beach, the fantastic palm trees and some of the hotel%26#39;s lovely grounds. It is as close to polynesian as some of us will ever see.
