Confused: Villas, Condos, rental homes, resorts, hotels!!!

I have read a few threads on renting Villas, Condos, rental homes and would like some good opinions on what would be most economical for 4 adults.

For villas, condos, homes does one contact a mgt co. or the owners direct. For hotels, resorts, through a travel agency or phone direct to reservations.

We will need 2 bedrooms and possibly two baths would like a nice landscaped grounds and we will rent a car.

Our expectation is to stay some days at the coast. I suppose different accom%26#39;s than being DW area. It would be nice being we are prairie dogs (Canada)to see the ocean.

I am so needy for good info so please lay it on.

homes and condos can be different.

Homes are rented through MCs and thru the owners direct. condos can be rented that way, but many are on hotel rental websites like travelzoo and hotlekingdom to mention two- but they will all have them.

Where do you want to be based? Orlando/kissimme or the gulf caost? Or two places? this is the place to ask about ones close to Disney. I know quite a bit about ones n the gulf coast too- but that is another forums job (Private message me).

So, do you want a condo with 2/3 bedrooms full kitchen w/d and resort facilities walkig distance to things in the evening? Or do you want a 3 bed home with private pool? Or a townhouse witha hot tub?

If you want to talk gulf resorts, the Sarasota forum is relatively lively.

I always use VRBO (Vacation Rental by Owner)....check out their website, choose a state, then you can choose to look at the rentals by town.....sit down with a good map of Florida to decide which areas you want to stay and then just start looking at the rentals on-line.....most have pictures and you can contact the owners directly by e-mail to ask whichever questions you have before you decide.....

We have rented condos and individual homes from this site for years and have never been disappointed....

Most places will charge a cleaning fee as well as the rental rate, so be sure to factor in ALL the charges when comparing rentals.....

Generally, if you are contacting a management company, you will be paying more and may even be switched from what you are renting to a different unit.......Renting directly from the owner, just makes so much more sense......

Then after you have it narrowed down to a few different rentals, you can post back on this forum to find out if anyone else has stayed there and how they liked it.....

The 2 sites below are quite good. Most of the homes on the latter have a virtual tours.

If you go to the Atlantic coast then Cocoa Beach is the nearest.

St. Augustine has some nice beaches and has a lovely historical town centre with trolley tours, restaurants and pubs.
