re; want to book but
This all really depends on your individual circumstances. Any rumors of downsizing at your work/sector, I wouldn%26#39;t chance it. Any debt, less than 6 months salary in cash in the bank, I wouldn%26#39;t chance it either.
Perhaps this is the one time I would red booking with a tour op and just pay a deposit, and I would check your travel insurance would cover you due to redundancy.
re; want to book but
same here pams2mum i book mine in advance going on 16 this month but booked 9 months ago,my job looking very dodgy at moment so not booked anything else for this year, just going to enjoy my 2 weeks n not worry about anything else, thats the magic of disney. :¬)
I don%26#39;t know where they fly to, but it would be good if other airlines introduced this.
There may be some independant insurance companies that do it.
Or try AIG direct
';Flybe offers free redundancy cover
Flybe is offering customers who book flights in January free insurance cover if they have to cancel their plans because of redundancy.
The airline aims to give customers confidence in booking during “unprecedented times”.
Its Book With Confidence guarantee will cover bookings made this month for travel up to October 24, and will cover flights, car hire, parking, hotels, booking fee, baggage and all taxes and charges.
Flybe will give customers a full refund if anyone in the party has to cancel because of redundancy, as long as they had more than two years continuous employment with their employer.
Chief commercial officer Mike Rutter said: “These are unprecedented times and Flybe wants to do its bit to keep the economy moving.
';That’s why we are introducing our completely free redundancy cancellation cover so that consumers can book with us in January secure in the knowledge that if they lose their job before they travel, Flybe will give them a full refund.”
The cover is being offered through AIG UK.';
Just tink you may walk out of the house and get knocked down by a bus, no one knows what the future holds.
be cautious but not paranoid.
i had 2 weeks in nov and loved it,my hubbys a bricklayer and has no work, when he was earning we were always carefull and saved,so now i am using some of that savings and going back in march the way things are going it may be our last for a while so im goin to enoy it
I agree with Leejan. Even if the economy wasn%26#39;t crap you have no guarantee that you wouldn%26#39;t loose your job or something else happening.
I went through the same process before booking my vaca for June. But then I realized there is never a guarantee no matter what the economy that I will be stable. I decided to go and book it, paying only deposits with the option to cancel 45 days prior just in case. This way I will only loose a small amount if something should happen.
I refused to play the what if game because nothing is for sure.
pams2mum i know where your comming from i wasnt going to go this year the first we would have missed in many but the deals were to good to turn down ,I will probaly cut back on days spent in parks but when i look back 5 years ago my 23 year old daughter was saving for a new car and had cut back on going out then she was killed by a drunk driver ,so sod it as i keep saying were only here once its not a dress rehersal for another go.
Mind you my business has slowed down and i might regret this later but then again who knows ,hope that helps .
Have to agree with Jenni.
Nemmis is right, anyting can and will happen. But how you would feel when you knew that the thousands you spent on holdiay could have kept the wolf from your door for 6 months or more- it would kill you mentally and emotionally.
Telling your kids no hols this year, or telling them you are losing your house? I know which one I%26#39;d rather do.
Amanx is right, you need funds to help you in bad times, whether its due to the economy or otherwise. I%26#39;ve nearly always lived by this rule. You could lose your job...an illness might strike etc. When my husband took ill suddenly there was no wages coming in but luckily had some savings and believe me they go quickly. Have just returned from orlando a week ago and I would love to be able to re-book for June, my finger hovers regularly over the ';Buy Now'; button. Like Nemmis says there are bargains to be had and it is so very tempting but I learnt a lesson in the past. That doesn%26#39;t mean you can%26#39;t plan your holidays though. I planned for two years! and it sounds a bit silly now , but every week I bought something for it, be it a pair of socks or a pair of shorts. Your time will come and you wont have to ask you%26#39;ll know it right. Best wishes.
