Hi,I just found the website for Periwinkle trailer park. I was wondering what the park is like, and the area around it was like. I am hoping to camp there in the beginning of May. Thanks in advance for any information.
Periwinkle campingThe park is nice. It is a combination mobile home park, camp ground,%26amp; animal sanctuary.
The is a bird aviary in the camp ground. It is about a 5 minute bike ride to the nearest beach. There is a Dairy Queen across the street from Periwinkle Park. Sanibel has Google Street view, so if you go to Google Maps and type in 1119 Periwinkle Way you can take a virtual trip through park.
Give the office a call for rates and rules and regulations. If you found their website, the number should be there.
TThe Park has a message board if you would like to read the posts and get a better idea:

Periwinkle campingThanks Nepture - I don%26#39;t know very much about the park. I would also check on if campfires are allowed.
Thanks! I probably will have to call them. There really is not a lot on that forum, or their website. I would like to see more pictures. I guess it doesn%26#39;t matter, it%26#39;s on Sanibel, and I have been wanting to go there!
I met a woman who stayed there- for a month every year. I think they had a nice camper, tho.
I used to camp when I was younger - using tents. I%26#39;m not sure what you would stay in, but check into showers, bathrooms, cooking using fire, etc. Let us know when you find out, we don%26#39;t get a lot of questions about the park.
No open fires are allowed - also no dogs if you were thinking about bringing one.
The area is nice. I%26#39;ve driven through the park a couple times looking at the units for sale. There is a back gate that you can go through and ride your bike or a nice walk to the beach.
Here is their website it sounds like you already have it but I thought I%26#39;d include it.

There is a designated camping area. You can request a park layout I believe from the forum. THe lady who answers will send you a PDF file I believe.
There is a guard gate in front, no dogs or mopeds. They keep it quiet.
The bike path I believe runs in front of the place and Lazy Flamingo is near to eat out which you can get reasonably priced items....or expensive items. DQ is right there also.
I think they stay pretty full in the winter...or they used to. I%26#39;m not sure for early May. It is a great time however to go the island. Nice weather and hopefully if dry NO No-see-ums. That would be the only warning for campers to know.
If you do not know what they are just type No-see-ums into the search under Sanibel.
Good Luck and enjoy!
