My daughter got an offer from Discovery Cruise line for a cruise to bahamas. It goes to bahamas one day, drops you off there, you stay for three days and then come back in their ship. I am concerned that this is a rip off because they are charging only $90.00 for the whole thing. Anybody had a bad experience?
Thanks
Discovery cruise line
Yeah pretty much everybody has a bad experience- they depend on trapping tourists for their livelihood. Here are reviews on Trip Advisor that pretty much tell all:

Discovery cruise line
I know a few people who decided to take this cruise and they were very unhappy.
Lucky for your daughter that she has a mom looking out for her.
wow....................that thread reads like a nightmare.............
Wow...I am glad that I checked this out. My husband and I were thinking of going for our anniversary. I was quoted $698 for two nights stay at an all-inclusive resort. Sounded too good to be true with a cruise there and back. Ebay is selling this trip too. Wow...again, thanks.
You might be able to find a short cruise to the Bahamas on the Carnival Cruise Line for just a bii more than that if you look at some of the big cruise discounters- and that I could recommend.
Both the Discovery and the Imperial Majesty here in town are awful, tourist trap trips- both very dirty with horrid food.
I have on occasion seen Carnival for $249 ( plus Port taxes , tips etc) but of course much depends on the dates.
Or, you might consider the new Catamaran Trip to Key West ( Key West Express). It has just started- you can go down to Key West in the am , arrive in late morning and stay over one or two nights- it leaves in the alte afternoon.
Hotels in Key West can be pricey , but you can usually find good advice on bargains in the Key West Forum
In the interest of full disclosure, I%26#39;m not a big fan of the Bahamas- there is so much poverty that every one is intent on separting you from your money- the prices on everything from taxi rides to meals are out of sight. Last time we were on a cruise that docked there, we chose to stay on the ship for the day having had enough on previous trips . Maybe otherr feel differently, but I%26#39;d much prefer Key West- not that it%26#39;s cheap, but it%26#39;s much more fun for the money!
DO NOT I REPETE DO NOT GO ON REGAL EMPRESS by Imperial Majesty the worst cruise we ever took horrible food, horrible entertainment, smelly old ship I would not go back on this ship if they paid me.
Hello,
Discovery Cruise Line and Grand Bahama Island are a popular destination and transportation for Fun Day Cruises, Cruise %26#39;N Stay Vacations or just a short Bahamas getaway. While most travelers book their vacation directly from Discovery, this popular destination and transportation is of course also sold via travel agents, wholesalers and incentive houses who will package a Discovery experience together with other options and attractions. While we can always vouch for the Discovery product, we have however no control over any vacation components a traveler may buy from third parties that are not operated or endorsed by Discovery. Any possible grievance pertaining to the actual Discovery product is processed by our customer service desk as swiftly as possible.
Sincerely,
Discovery Management
HA.HA.HA. Save yourself a lot of hassle %26amp; headache and fly to Grand Bahama.
Make sure that you book directly with Discovery Cruise Line - the webiste is www.DiscoveryCruiseLine.com - the website explains all surcharges and taxes - some companies may offer you deals but you%26#39;ll pay more in the long run - I always book direct and it is a good deal - would recommend the Sherat on at Our Lucaya Resort - that way, you know you will have a good hotel too.
check out thier website at discoverycruiseline.com -the surcharges and taxes are all listed - would say that the best deal would be the Sheraton at Our Lucaya - that way you know she will have a good room/hotel . Port Lucaya Yacht Club used to be OK, but is not so good now unless you want a real cheap place to stay. Some companies offer deals but then you pay more in the long run - the first time I went to the Bahamas, I thought I was getting a deal from a time share company and paid more in taxes that I care to mention, which is why I have booked direct with the cruise line since and got a much better deal
