We are considering a weekend stay in the Clearwater area in late March after a week at Disney. We are considering Celebrity Resorts Indian Shores for an affordable place near the beach for a family of 4 with small children. Rates at the chains are out of our price range after spending all our money on the Mouse. We spend most of our time on the beach so bells and whistles aren%26#39;t important. However, I don%26#39;t want to stay in a nasty, seedy place either. Advice?
Celebrity Resorts Indian Shores stay for family?
I can%26#39;t really comment on that property other than the location. Indian Shores is a quiet, slow paced area between Clearwater Beach, and Treasure Island/St. Pete Beach. It is mostly residential, and the beach will usually not be crowded at all in that area. You will need to cross Gulf Blvd to reach the beach. You will also most likely need to drive a short ways to get to restaurants, shops etc. Again, I%26#39;ve never visited that property, but overall, Indian Shores itself is not a seedy area at all.
Just for options, you may want to look at the more moderate hotels on Clearwater Beach. There is a Red Roof Inn, and a Travelodge right across the street from the main beach along BeachWalk, which is a pedestrian mall along the beach. From here you could walk to a wide variety of restaurants, shops etc.
Of course with 4 small ones, the Celebrity might offer more beds and elbow room than a regular hotel room, I%26#39;m not sure, just figured I%26#39;d list that as an option.
Of course, if you wanted any of the emmenities of Clearwater Beach, it will only be about a 20-25 minute drive.

Celebrity Resorts Indian Shores stay for family?
Thanks for your response. I appreciate the information. We are a family of 4 with just 2 small ones; I would be absolutely crazy with 2 extras! :) You%26#39;ve given me more to research. I have looked at the Indian Shores forum as well, but it doesn%26#39;t seem to get as much action, so I thought I%26#39;d post here.
Just want to be sure you know I%26#39;m not trying to deter you from your Indian Shores plans. It%26#39;s a nice , less crowded, quieter area, that may be just what you%26#39;re wanting after the Disney chaos. Also, I just thought that end of March is into the height of Spring Break time for the college crowd. While Clearwater Beach is not the huge Spring break draw it used to be, it will be a bit busier then on Clearwater Beach, but not really on the beach in Indian Shores. So it may offer you a more relaxed time on the beach, as you should be able to keep your eyes on the little ones so much easier without the larger crowds, and you might feel better giving them a little more of an area to roam and play, which they should enjoy.
It will be a nice time at either place. Any more questions, I%26#39;ll try to help if I can.
I stayed there overnight last year. I think it would be fine if you are just looking for clean accommodations close to the beach and don%26#39;t need a ton of amenities and service personnel to make you happy. It sits right across the street from the beach on the Intracoastal waterway. There%26#39;s a cute deck area overlooking the waterway with grills and tables for the use of guests. There is also a small swimming pool. That%26#39;s about it as far as property amenties go. The accomodations are quite roomy (bathroom was HUGE), but furnishings are somewhat dated and the bed in our unit was not great. It met my specs for cleaniless though...I wouldn%26#39;t call it ';nasty'; or ';seedy'; by any means. I think it would work well for a family on a budget who just want to enjoy some beach time. As the other poster said, it%26#39;s on a quieter, more residential section of the beach (which I like), but is still close to plenty of restaurants. There is some ongoing road construction on Gulf Blvd. in the vicinity of the property, but you%26#39;ll be on vacation and probably won%26#39;t be any big hurry, right? ;)
Thanks for your info. We%26#39;re still thinking about our plans, but hearing from others certainly helps! During spring break time, the quieter area seems more practical for us. Of course, we lean toward those kind of beaches anyway. Your first-hand experience with the property helps put my mind at ease, also. We are just looking for an affordable way to stick our toes in the sand for a couple of days of relaxation and fun after some wild days at Disneyworld.
