Tranquility Bay or Hawks Cay?

We traveled to the Keys for the first time last summer,and had to be evacuated after only 3 short days due to Fay.We stayed at Tranquility Bay,and loved it!We are returning during February,and we are wondering if we should book again at Tranquility Bay,or try out the villas at Hawks Cay?We love the beach (Spent every day of our last visit at Bahia Honda),and have two children,ages 11 and 10,who also love the pool.We are finicky and need clean accommodations,due to allergies.Any recommendations are appreciated..thank you!!

I think you would be happy with Hawks Cay. Most of the villas were just revamped. It%26#39;s a beautiful property. It%26#39;s another 10 miles or so from Bahia Honda, but off US1 and maybe quieter.

Did you get to check out Sombrero Beach while you were here last? Closer if you are going to the beach everyday. and free.

Tranquility Bay or Hawks Cay?

This question comes up a lot. Personally, I love both properties. Clients of ours stayed at HC last week (Christmas) and loved it but found the food at the restaurants rather inconsistent and high-priced. It was a family of 4 with 2 sons about 20ish. The mom LOVED the dolphins - couldn%26#39;t get enough of them. They also loved the adult pool and the food at the pool grill. They did not stay at one of the villas but in the hotel proper and said their suite was very nice. If you do stay in one of the villas, as bluwater said, make sure it%26#39;s one that has recently been renovated.

Thank you for you replies.We just booked Hawks Cay,and we are very excited!How do the boat charters prices compare to others off site?We are thinking of doing one during our stay.Also,any recommended restaurants nearby?

Try Sparky%26#39;s Landing at the Key Colony Beach Marina (turn off the highway onto Sadowski Causeway at MM 53.5). Awesome fish tacos and more! Great, relaxed setting right on the water. There are charter boats there also. Walk the dock, check their catches and chat with the Captains to get a feel for which one you%26#39;d like to fish with. There are also many good boats at Hawks Cay.

Thank you for your suggestions!We are looking forward to trying out Sparkys,as we missed it during our last trip.Booked a charter aboard the Eagle Eye (I think thats the name) for 1/2 day,and a dolphin swim at Hawks Cay for my daughter.We are hoping that Hawks Cay is even nicer than Tranquility Bay,which we loved.What%26#39;s the weather/water temp for mid/end of Feb?

We can have some breezy weather in February but the air temps will be in the upper 70%26#39;s-low 80%26#39;s mostly, unless we have a cold front. Then it%26#39;ll be 5-10 degrees cooler. Have a sweater or light jacket for the evenings. Be sure you visit the Aqua Ranch also where your kids can feed and swim with the huge 100-lb. cobia! It is located just West of Hawks Cay on US 1 on your way to or from Sparky%26#39;s.
