Early 30s....where to stay?

We are a couple in our early 30s that are looking for a hotel recommendation. A great pool is important and we%26#39;d like to be in the heart of the action because we want to party (at night) and do a lot of shopping....after a few hours by the pool. We don%26#39;t want an old run down hotel and would prefer a place without a thousand kids....but don%26#39;t want to stay somewhere that%26#39;s clothing optional either. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any suggestions!!!

Early 30s....where to stay?

When are you planning on visiting and how much do you want to spend per night? Are you looking for a larger hotel or a B%26amp;B. Tell us more about what you are looking for and maybe we can help.

Early 30s....where to stay?

I%26#39;ve never really been a B%26amp;B person. We are flexible with our budget. We were thinking about Ocean Resort and Spa maybe, but just not sure. I%26#39;m looking for a great pool, close to nightlife and shopping and not a lot of kids....those are the things that are most important to us. Thanks.

Oh...and looking to go in April. Not sure of exact date yet...we%26#39;re flexible on that too. Key West is so expensive compared to Mexico (where we normally go), but I%26#39;ve always wanted to check it out and always compare prices and go somewhere else because I like a whole week vacation. Somebody once told me that a week is too long in Key West. I never understood that. Is there any truth to that?

A week too long? Most of us would say the rest of our lives wouldn%26#39;t be too long. Unfortunately, I can only afford around a week at a time, but yeah I have always stayed a week and hated to leave.

A week is never long enough IMO! If you are not a B %26amp; B person (which is a shame, I think they really give you the KW feel and experience a bit more) than Ocean Key would be my choice! Great location.

A week will leave you wanting more. Some people visit and just never leave, lol. Ocean Key is a top notch place with beautiful rooms with great views. You cannot go wrong with that pick. Have a great time!

If you want to spend less and get more...

It sounds to me like you would be happy at the Pier House also. It has a small man made beach, a very nice pool, a spa that gets rave reviews, and newly remodeled rooms. It%26#39;s right in the middle of the action on the Gulf end of Duval. For something really nice on the Atlantic end (the quiet end) of Duval, The Southernmost Hotel, and it%26#39;s Beach hotel are both very nice and a little less pricey than the Pier house. Ocean Key Resort is very very nice, but it is the most expensive of the above mentioned hotels.

When you say you aren%26#39;t a B and B type person... A KW B and B might not be what your thinking of...

They are often great places in KW with unparrelelled atmosphere and you get to know the people you are staying with quite often.

With all that said.... I%26#39;m 30 and have been going for years to KW. My recomendation would be the Angelina Guest house... It%26#39;s right in the middle of Duval.. has a nice pool.. and you can meet all sorts of people. Depends on who is staying there at any given time... But kids are never a concern.

Pools in KW are different as well... They aren%26#39;t olympic sized things. More likely they are nice little pools to lounge around in. The Angelina does have a waterfall!!! Also, the Angelina is the best value on the island IMO. No TVs in the rooms (save one) but it%26#39;s hardly needed.

Oh.. sorry to ramble.. But The Rock.. has way more then a week worth of activities and bars=)

I agree that a KW guesthouse isn%26#39;t your usual B%26amp;B experience. Me and hubby are early-mid 30%26#39;s and we did the Azul KW guesthouse in May and it%26#39;s very nice, small, there were no kids, it%26#39;s off Duval by about a block or 2 but is central to Old Town-we really liked the location. Small pool but pretty pool and patio area, there are only like 10 units in this lovely historic home.

We liked our trip in May so much that we returned in Dec and stayed at the Best Western Hibiscus, it%26#39;s on the quieter end and is a block off Duval. We had a huge room, the pool is large and nice and there%26#39;s a hot tub. We biked over to Duval for drinking and shopping.

Old Town is only like 1 mile by 2 miles total so nothing is too far from anything.

Ft Zach has a pretty beach and chair rentals are only like $10 for the day.

I love Pirate Punch at Capt Tony%26#39;s-yummy stuff. Catch sunset atop the La Concha, friendly bartender who doesn%26#39;t stint on the booze with a great view!
