suggestions needed on beaches/sites near disneyworld

hi we will be at poly feb 6 to 13 and i have booked a rental car for one day to get out of the parks and do some site seeing as its our first time there(hubby and 8yr old daughter in tow).....are there beaches/good shopping malls nearby that we should go too? Goldie ontario

Lots of Shopping near by. I%26#39;m not a shopper so I will let someone else that is give you the scoop on that

Closest Beach would about an hour drive to the East, Cocoa Beach. A bit longer drive to the West, Gulf Coast, there are some very nice Beaches in Clearwater/St. Pete Area. Gulf would be warmer water this time of year :)

Would suggest Florida Mall....huge mall...decent prices as far as malls go.

Millenia Mall....more upscale but plenty of places to shop. Cool shops like Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters.

Outlet Malls...Prime (I-Drive) and Premium (LBV).

You%26#39;re going at a good time as stores getting their spring fashion lines in and winter clothes out....good bargains to be had!

I agree that the gulf will be warmer, so if you want a beach I%26#39;d go there. Clearwater is closest time wise, but I prefer further south St Petes.

If you want to do both beach and shopping, then drive to Cocoa first thing, have a stroll etc, then head back to the malls. But if the weather is poor, just head to the shops.

As I assume you have normal shopping malls near to you in Ontario, I would suggest Mall at Millenia for its high end experience and superb dining choices of Cheessecake factory,pf changs and McCormick and Schmicks- don%26#39;t forget some Canadian ID so you can register for 11% off at Macy%26#39;s. Or the Prime Outlets as they are new and have some high end discounters- don%26#39;t know about the dining choices there- consult their website maybe.

HI thanks for all the info...Just wondering how far Millenia Mall (is that right?) is from the Polynesian aprox...or how long a drive and is it easy to get there if you dont know your way around at all?? goldie,ontario

If you make your way out of Disney, out to the I4 , it is just up off the Conway RD exit. Takes me abt 15 mins frm exit 68, more if traffic is heavy. So add that to however long it will take you to get out of Disney. Not far and not hard. In fact, you can google map it with directions. Use your resort address for a start, and get the MAM address off their website:

I find it easier to go the Osceola Parkway from Disney to the turnpike north to the OBT exit. Take right on OBT and Florida mall is about 1 mile or 2 down.

It%26#39;s approx 30 minutes from Disney...Neither mall is that far and if you have time you may want to hit both.

florida Mall is slightly closer, but not much in it. Go where you want to.

Thanks for both your suggestions...both sound good. The Millenia does look lovely though!! If we were going to Cocoa beach for the day...is it or the other one at least on the way ...or is it other direction? goldie
