Teen Clubs

Travelling to Disney 1st two weeks in April with three teenagers ( 14, 14 and 16 ).

Have been trying to find things to keep them occupied in the evenings, ie Clubs for teens. The Groove at Citywalk would appear to do teen nights a couple of times a week, can anyone give us some info on this ?.

Any other recommendations happily received from what would be 2 very grateful parents ( means we get some adult time LOL ).

Teen Clubs

Check http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours.htm for Disney park hours,Magic Kingdom is open till 11pm most nights for the first 2 weeks of April, you could drop them off and go do your own thing, fairly safe in the parks and entertained. Ask about drop off points for various parks (at the carpark entrance), we dropped our teenage daughters close to the entrance of Animal Kingdom where the diasbled parking is and were allowed back to collect them later in the day.

Teen Clubs

Are you staying onsite? If so they can get around pretty easy on their own. I allow my teens to roam some on their own with a cell phone.

You can easily go to downtown disney and go your seperate ways. You can have a nice dinner while they walk around and can grab a bite to eat. Disney Quest is also there. Our teens have not tried it yet, but some do enjoy it.

If the parks are open late that is another good place. Teens like the parks at night.

Teens come out and take your party uptown to the groove and hit the most explosive dance floor in Orlando.

$15 admission

Admission includes first soft drink for FREE, Teens 15-19 years of age, Appropriate attire required.

The Groove features House, Trance and Dance Music.

Teen nights is only on select nights. I don%26#39;t see a calendar for future dates so you may need to check closer to you travel date to see which nights it will be held on.

We spent ALOT of time at CityWalk. The two girls are to young for the Groove. Citywalk has alot to do but I personnaly do not let my 13 yr old walk around at night at CityWalk without an adult. The crowd gets rowdy as the night goes on. If I have him with us, we leave CityWalk by 9:00pm.

I do however, let him go to the Disney Boardwalk area and DisneyQuest/Downtown Disney area at night with a friend.

Hi Baz,

I really wouldn%26#39;t worry too much about the evenings.......we%26#39;re just back with our 3 teens and found that the days at the parks just disappear and everyone is exhausted and just flop when you return.

Our teens surprisingly (they prefer to sleep till noon at home!) were delighted to get up early do a few hours of the favourite rides, leave for a swim or shop and return in the evening, the parks take on a different atmosphere then and even the rides seem different when done at night!

I also agree with the previous posts.....you could separate in the parks for some time to yourselves. Disney quest was also on our kids to do list, but we didn%26#39;t manage to find time for it - I thought we would be pestered but actually there is just so much to see and do out and about that DQ dropped down well down the list. :-)

We also enjoyed a boat ride from Hollywood Studios down to the boardwalk and Carribean Resort for a look around. The boat is part of the Disney transportation system and is free - it%26#39;s destination is actually Epcot - very relaxing hour or so, but would probably be less of a hit with the teens in tow - leave them at Epcot or HS and enjoy the time yourselves that day!!

Enjoy your holiday :-)

aries- thanks for that. We have not made our way to Citywalk. That is a good tip that it is not like downtown disney or the boardwalk.

We have been the past few years with boys now aged 17, 15 and 11 and have never had any problems keeping them occupied in the evenings. The oldest two travel into Glasgow for shopping, football etc with their friends and we thought last year that they might want to go about the parks on their own but were less than keen on the idea. I think the size and scale of the place put them off a bit. By the time you do parks and shopping in the evenings you may well find this isn%26#39;t as much a problem as you think it is going to be. We were staying in a villa which meant they all had their own rooms/tv/i-touch to give everyone their own space.

One possibility at Citywalk could be for yourself to book into one restuarant and the kids into the NBA City or Hard Rock Cafe, you would be in walking distance of each other but at least you could eat you meal without the usaul sibling gripes.

For anything more adult buy a hat and stick it on the door a la Fockers.
