opinion of the Beachside Palms

Does anyone have any information on the Beachside Palms condo? From the website it looks pretty good and seems to have what we would need to stay there. Has anyone stayed there? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

opinion of the Beachside Palms

We stayed at Beachside Palms on Treasure Island the last two weeks of March 2007 and I would NOT recommend it. My main reason is the noise. We were in a room under a large rental room and it sounded like a heard of Buffalo walking around upstairs. No sound deadening in the floors, wheels on the dining room chairs on tile floors and to top it off - three old drunk women that drank and stomped around all night and day. The other people in the room next to us said the noise was just as bad in their room.

We spoke to them but they wouldn%26#39;t tame it down so we called (and coulnd%26#39;t get Katie) and left a message. This was after putting up with it for three days. Stupid me! I guess Katie or her husband finally threw them out. They drove away all holding glasses of wine at 10:00AM. The next day her husband (Brian) was a real smart-alec to my wife and said ';do you have anymore ISSUES';? I guess they were mad they lost the higher paying renters. We were there for two weeks and the drunks were only going to be there for a few days.

As if this wasn%26#39;t enough, Gulf Blvd. sounds like the local drag strip - Harley%26#39;s with open pipes running through the gears all night and almost no traffic control from the cops.

Good luck trying to get Katie on the phone after you book the place or need to email her for something. We asked for a receipt and she said she would be by at 5:00AM the morning we were leaving. Didn%26#39;t show so we called an hour later and got the usual answering machine. Wind bag called back and said he would mail one. Two weeks went by and I emailed her again and finally a week later I got my receipt. Not very business like...

They brag about re-modeling the rooms but it%26#39;s mostly new paint (over 1/8'; paneling, new tile and carpeting. The wiring looks like it came from the original 1947 motel. No phones or internet.

On the plus side, the beach is beautiful, the rooms fully stocked, the appliances seem to work (except for the ancient shower faucets that shot water all over from loose packing nuts and electrical tape on the sink trap to keep it together).

I read somewhere about designated parking. That%26#39;s a joke! Every time we came back we had to park somewhere else besides in front of our room. Sometimes almost on Gulf Blvd.

Oh, one more little minor thing that Katie might not mention - she said in one of her rare emails that she caved in to the concrete jungle fad and sold out for 2.5 million (for the land). When we went down there she told us she was getting together with the rest of the small motel owners and fight the huge high rise monsters from completely covering the island. So much for that. It may not be there when you get to Florida...

To sum it up, I had a fantastic time on the Gulf Coast area doing wildlife photography and enjoying the beaches and nice weather but hardly slept a wink because of all the racket. Katie%26#39;s excuse about being hard to contact is that she works two jobs but I think she needs to quit her other one and devote more time to the motel......gosh, what am I saying - it%26#39;s probably being bulldozed as I write this!

The Beach Side Palms is a quaint little motel on the gulf. The beach is wide and has beautiful white sands, Great for kids %26#39;cause thereis a lot of room to run. The owners, Katie %26amp; Brian are lovely people and will take real good care of you. It is at the QUIET south end of Treasure Island....

My family and I stayed a Beachside Palms for a week in October and had a wonderful time. I got married outside on the beach and we held the reception in the back area of Beachside Palms. Katie and Brian were very helpful informing me of the nearest party stores, restaurants, wedding cake providers, and much more. The rooms are cute and full of everything and anything you can think of. We had around 65 guests and parking was never an issue. Katie allowed us to put up tents in the back area of the motel and move the furniture to make the reception site our own. It was absolutely gorgeous and we had the best time. I would definitely suggest Beachside Palms to anyone looking for a wonderful, peaceful, and beautiful time.

I had the good fortune of holding my wedding at Beachside Palms on June 16, 2007. The facilities were beautiful, and the staff went above and beyond for us every day. We trasformed this classic motel into an elegant small wedding venue, and the entire wedding party stayed in the guest rooms. Katie offered help to us that we didn%26#39;t even ask for, and made the entire stay (not just the wedding) special. We had a wonderful time on the gorgeous beach, and had no trouble parking, even with a wedding going on!

An observation: when the same negative poster keeps replying and arguing with other posters, it looks more like a vendetta than a review. They%26#39;ve got their opinion, but I know of 50 guests who would disagree :)

We have been staying at the Beachside Palms for years now. From the first day, when we desperately needed a place while waiting for a delayed house closing, to coming back for my wife%26#39;s birthday every year we have enjoyed each visit. They were full one year and we had to stay somewhere else...wasn%26#39;t the same. Katie and Brian (the owners) are easygoing and as friendly as can be. We love walking out our door, making a right and stepping onto the white sands of the Treasure Island Beach. Many stores and shops in walking distance and finding a restaurant is a matter of choice because they are so plentiful. Of course the kitchen has everything you need to cook as if you were at home. We usually buy a few cook items and are able to get our days started easier for not having to go out to breakfast or change into nicer clothes for dinner. We have recommended the Beachside Palms to our friends and family and always look at our annual visit as the highlight of our year.

Sorry you had such a horrible experience there. I have already booked my room for the August 2009 timeframe, so I am guessing the hotel will still be there. Love the place. They have a loyal client base and many repeat vacationers.

If you were renting one of the effeciencies then you would have been closer to Gulf Blvd. so I can understand the noise issue with the Harleys. To be honest we never hear them from the Pineapple Palm.

Hope you next visit goes better.
