Looking for a good disney resort

Planning a disney trip for May. I%26#39;m looking for a good resort that a five year old would enjoy. Not sure whether to go value, moderate or deluxe. What are your favorites and which are not your favorites? Any suggetions? TIA.

Looking for a good disney resort

I normally stay off site. We are a larger family, and whenmine were small disney didn%26#39;t cater for families like us although they do now.

While we are waiting for Partypa and Kat, the real experts in this field, I would say that when and if I do stay onsite, I will look at the moderates, as the rooms are more spacious than value resorts plus have a fridge, and one with boat access to DTD and or a park. Buses are all well and good, but boat travel is more %26#39;holiday%26#39;.

Looking for a good disney resort

My favourite would be AKL. Most children like animals.

You have 27 different resorts to choose from. I strongly recommend you narrow down your search by deciding how much you want to spend or how much you can spend. From there, the choices get clearer.

Depending on the season, a Value resort can cost about $85 per night, a Moderate resort can cost about $150 per night, and the Deluxe resorts can range from about $280 per night up to thousands of dollars per night.

WHat%26#39;s your price range? If you can narrow that down, it will be A LOT easier to guide you towards the best resort for you. :-)

I%26#39;m willing to spend the money to stay somewhere that my daughter would enjoy. It%26#39;s her first time in disney and we want to make it special for her (what parent would%26#39;nt right?) I%26#39;ve been to disney but stayed elsewhere so I know nothing about disney resorts. Are the deluxe resorts worth it or can you get the same feel from value resort or is moderate the way to go? I guess I%26#39;m looking for something that is clean, has a lot for my five year old to do when we are just chilling out at the hotel and that is close to the parks. I would spend what ever I need to but don%26#39;t want to have to take out a second loan on my house to do it but I also don%26#39;t want to stay in a roach motel.

While we wait for the more expert experts lol,

I would suggest in the Delux category the AKL, the Beach Club, or the Poly for Animals, the best pool at Disney, and themeing/lake/monorail in that order.

For a moderate, I would suggest POR, or Caribbean Beach.

At this point, as disney is running special offers I would choose by which hotels are available for your dates with the buy 4 get three free.

i have heard many good things about this firm but haven%26#39;t used them myself:

Every Disney owned-and-operated resort is clean and safe. No roach motels. Nothing run down or yucky.

Actually, the Value resorts may look the most fun to a child, due to the huge whimsical decorations. If she would enjoy a slide at the hotel pool, however, the Value resorts don%26#39;t have those ... so if that makes a difference, look for Moderate and Deluxe.

MOST (but not all) of the Deluxe resorts are pretty close to at least one park. MOST (but not all) offer some other way of getting to that closest park besides a Disney bus (the exception to this is Animal Kingdom Lodge, which uses ONLY buses to get to each park, including Animal Kingdom).

The Moderate resorts are a great way to go without breaking the bank. They%26#39;re all the same price, the main difference is theme: American southwest, Caribbean, rustic Lousiana bayou countryside, or New Orleans French Quarter without the alcohol and public nudity.

The bottom line is that if you%26#39;re going to spend most of your time at the parks, then resort really doesn%26#39;t matter too much. We took our kids when they were 5 and 2.5, and again when they were 6.5 and 4. We stayed at 2 different resorts. The resorts didn%26#39;t matter too much to them. They thought it was cool to stay at a hotel, that there was a TV in the room, and there was a pool to play in. Everything else was pretty much lost on them.

Next month, we%26#39;re staying at the Polynesian. It%26#39;ll be our first time at a Deluxe resort. I%26#39;m excited as can be. My kids really don%26#39;t care ... they just know they%26#39;re going to Disney World!!!

Thanks everyone. I was looking at one for each catergory: Pop Century, Port Orleans French Quarter and Polynesian. Has any one been to any of these? How was your experience?

Have you looked on allears.net? They show really good pictures of all the resorts. We are also going in May. We ordered the dvd from Disney and also looked at all the pictures on allears.net and my two boys (7%26amp;9) just keep saying ';we want to stay at that one with the pirate pool'; (Caribbean Beach) We haven%26#39;t told them we are going just looking for some day. We are going to wait and surprise them. I have read alot of mixed reviews about CB, but the pool looks like fun to them and this trip is for them, so that is where we are staying. I really thought they would think some of the values looked great with all the big icons. But they are all about the pool. So, you might show your five year old pictures and just see what he thinks.

First I must say, amanx you are so funny ';while we wait... '; Noone has to wait for us !! ( kat is off for the weekend anyway )

Hi misty, my recomendations, not they I am telling anyone where to stay, lol,

Value Resort - Pop Century, because it is newer, has it%26#39;s own bus service. Other then those 2 reasons, there really isn%26#39;t much difference in the Value Resorts

Moderate Resort - I don%26#39;t think you can go wrong with any of them. POR - great family Resort, lots of fun to be had here, boat to DTD is a nice perk. POFQ - cozy and quieter then POR but with the same nice boat service to DTD. The only downside is that there is no table service restaurant but that%26#39;s not a big deal. Caribbean Beach - very tropical and fun. The new pool alone is worth a stay here, really swell. Coronado Springs - I love this Resort but will put it last because it has a more Adult feel to it

Deluxe Resorts - Most everyone knows my answer to this one. Animal KIngdom Lodge is the most unique Resort on Property, really can%26#39;t find a more interesting place to stay then here. The Animals are the big attraction but there is so much more. My second choice is Wilderness Lodge. Beautiful and relaxing and a boat ride away to the Magic Kingdom. The Beach Area is quite large and the kids love it. The kids clubs at both Resorts is wonderful, if that would be of any interest to you

A five year old will indeed enjoy any of the Resorts, you might want to think about what you would enjoy as well :)

My 2 favourite sites for all things Disney are www.wdwinfo.com and www.allears.net Have another look at all the Resort Info and the perks that staying at each would give.

I do highly recomend www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com so that you can do everything on-line and you have the same Agent to e-mail with

Gosh I did go on and on didn%26#39;t I ? Hope some of it was helpful :)

Thanks partypa,you were very helpful.
